ASU Mid-South Rallies Past Northwest Mississippi 103–98
WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. — ASU Mid-South overcame a halftime deficit to earn an impressive 103–98 victory over Northwest Mississippi on Monday night, fueled by a fast-paced second half and strong all-around performances.
Trailing 52–47 at the break, the Greyhounds caught fire offensively in the second half, outscoring the Rangers 56–46 to pick up their first win of the young season.
Phillip Tillman led the way with a standout performance — 24 points, 7 steals, and 6 assists — sparking the Greyhounds on both ends of the court. Jaxson Yancy matched Tillman's scoring output with 24 points, while Randy Emerson added 19 points. Dejavius Johnson chipped in 11 points, and Hugh McFarland turned in a near triple-double with 10 points, 9 assists, and 8 rebounds to round out the balanced attack.
Northwest Mississippi was led by Chancellor Terry with 18 points, while Demetrius Duffy, Harry Malone III, and Dakota Morris each scored 13 points. West Memphis native Ladarrius Brown added 12 points in the return to his hometown.
"First and foremost, I'm just really proud of our team. After playing in a really tough, physical game last night against Jones and having a quick turnaround to face a tough Northwest Mississippi team today is not easy," said ASU Mid-South head coach Cody Hastings. "It definitely took a little bit for our legs to get back under us, but the way our guys just kept battling all game is what I'm most proud of. They jumped on us good there in the first half and it would have been easy to put our head down and give up, but they didn't and continued to chip away little by little. We showed a lot of grit tonight, and I couldn't be more excited for these guys to be able to pick up our first win of the year."
With the win, ASU Mid-South (1–1) continues to build early-season momentum and will next face Williams Baptist University JV on Monday, November 3rd in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas.
