Greyhounds Rain Down Threes in Road Win at Shorter College
Little Rock, ARK -
ASU Mid-South put on an offensive clinic from beyond the arc, knocking down 16 three-pointers on the way to a convincing 30-point road victory over Shorter College.
The Greyhounds wasted no time setting the tone, jumping out to a 14–2 lead in the first four minutes of action. Jaxson Yancy and Phillip Tillman ignited the early surge, trading back-to-back three-point baskets as ASU Mid-South quickly seized control. Strong defensive pressure fueled the fast start, allowing the Greyhounds to get out in transition and create numerous open looks from the perimeter.
The opening half ended the same way it began — with a three. As time expired before the break, Tillman buried a triple to send ASU Mid-South into halftime with momentum firmly in hand.
The second half followed a similar script, as the Greyhounds continued to push the pace and stretch the lead. ASU Mid-South built its advantage to as many as 32 points before closing out the dominant road performance.
"It was fun watching our guys compete, especially the ones who got to play in front of a bunch of friends and family. I take a lot of pride being able to sit back and watch them have fun when they are really getting after it. This is such a fun group to coach. We just have to keep stacking days together and letting the pieces fall where they man." said head coach Cody Hastings following the win.
Tillman led the way with a stellar all-around performance, finishing with 22 points, six rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Michael Stewart provided a huge spark off the bench, pouring in 20 points while going an impressive 6-of-7 from three-point range. Taylor Conner added 13 points and eight rebounds, while Braylon Frazier chipped in 11 points off the bench, knocking down all three of his attempts from deep. Yancy rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points.
Randy Emerson finished with seven points, and Hugh McFarland delivered another complete effort with seven points, six rebounds, and 10 assists.
With the victory, ASU Mid-South improves to 11–5 overall and 4–1 in conference play. The Greyhounds will return home to host North Arkansas College on Monday, January 12, at 6:00 p.m. in a makeup game from their previously postponed December matchup.
