Greyhounds Roll Past Jackson State 89–63 Behind Tillman's Near Triple Double
Jackson, TN - The ASU Mid-South Greyhounds put together their most complete performance of the season Saturday afternoon, overpowering Jackson State Community College 89–63 on the road. Every Greyhound who stepped on the floor scored, as balance, ball movement, and relentless defense fueled the dominant victory.
ASU Mid-South (5–4) controlled the game on both ends, shooting a blistering 55.9% from the field and knocking down 10-of-24 from beyond the arc. Their defensive pressure set the tone early, forcing 11 steals and converting turnovers into easy baskets. That effort helped the Greyhounds pile up 54 points in the paint while holding the Green Jays below 40% shooting—and completely scoreless from three-point range.
Phillip Tillman delivered the headline performance, recording 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 assist performance, orchestrating an offense that saw four players score in double figures.
Dejavius Johnson added 12 points, while Hugh McFarland provided a major spark off the bench with 11 points and 10 assists in a standout playmaking effort. Michael Stewart rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points. Braylon Frazier and Taylor Conner chipped in 8 apiece as the Greyhounds' depth overwhelmed Jackson State.
Head coach Cody Hastings ["I was very proud of the way we came out and executed, especially defensively. We adjusted where we needed to. Guys worried about the next play instead of what just happened. I would like to clean up the last 5-6 minutes, but that allows us to go back and watch the film to get better for our next game on Monday."] praised his team's focus and execution on both ends of the floor.
With momentum building, ASU Mid-South returns home on Monday, December 1, to host Williams Baptist University JV. Tip-off inside The Dog House is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
