Lady Nighthawks Cruise Past ASU Mid-South in Regular Season Finale
Hot Springs, Ark - The National Park College Lady Nighthawks left no doubt on their home floor, delivering a dominant 87-40 victory over ASU Mid-South to close out the regular season in emphatic fashion.
It was a long night for the visiting Lady Greyhounds, as National Park set the tone early and never looked back. The Lady Nighthawks established control in the first half, building a comfortable 32-16 lead heading into the break. ASU Mid-South struggled to find offensive rhythm, while the home team capitalized on balanced scoring and defensive pressure.
Coming out of halftime, National Park College elevated its play even further. The Lady Nighthawks came out of the locker room energized and caught fire offensively, pouring in 27 third-quarter points while holding ASU Mid-South to just nine. That decisive stretch effectively put the game out of reach, as the lead ballooned heading into the final period.
The fourth quarter mirrored much of the third, with National Park continuing to dictate the pace and showcase its depth. The Lady Nighthawks maintained their intensity on both ends of the floor, cruising to the 47-point victory.
Landrey Richardson led the way for National Park College with a game-high 20 points. Khayla Garrett turned in a strong all-around performance, finishing with 16 points and 10 assists to lead the offense. Her twin sister, Khyra Garrett, added 13 points, five rebounds, five assists, and four steals in a stat-stuffing effort. Aaliyah Hollins also contributed 13 points, while Ta'Keyla Williamson rounded out the double-figure scorers with 12.
For ASU Mid-South, Shatalya Boyland paced the team with 11 points. Alana Whiten added eight, while Cadence Irby and Ka'Mbili Nelson chipped in six points each.
With the loss, the Lady Greyhounds conclude the regular season with an 8-18 overall record and a 5-7 mark in region play. Despite the setback, ASU Mid-South now turns its focus to postseason play.
The Lady Greyhounds will enter next week's region tournament as the No. 4 seed and are set to face No. 5 seed Southeast Arkansas on Thursday, February 26. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., as ASU Mid-South looks to regroup and make a postseason push.
