Late Surge Dooms Lady Greyhounds Against Southeast Arkansas
Pine Bluff, ARK -
The ASU Mid-South Lady Greyhounds were unable to hold onto a strong first-half advantage, falling to Southeast Arkansas after a decisive second-half surge by the Lady Sharks.
ASU Mid-South built momentum early and carried a 12-point lead into halftime, looking firmly in control. However, Southeast Arkansas flipped the script coming out of the break, using a furious third-quarter comeback to erase the deficit and pull even heading into the fourth quarter.
From there, the Lady Sharks took complete control. Southeast Arkansas turned up the defensive pressure in the final period, holding the Lady Greyhounds to just four fourth-quarter points to create separation and secure the victory.
Free throws proved to be a key factor in the loss, as ASU Mid-South struggled at the line, converting only 9 of 20 attempts.
Offensively, Alana Whiten and Lula-Jae Tranfaglia led the way for the Lady Greyhounds with 16 points apiece. Tranfaglia added a strong presence in the paint, recording a double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds. Serenity Austin delivered an all-around performance, finishing with 15 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and five steals. Ka'Mbili Nelson contributed 10 points before leaving the game early due to an ankle injury.
With the loss, ASU Mid-South drops to 2–13 overall and 0–3 in conference play.
The Lady Greyhounds will look to bounce back on Monday, December 15, when they return home to host Jackson State Community College inside The Dog House. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
