Lady Greyhounds Fall to Crowder in Day Two of Crowder Classic
NEOSHO, Mo. — ASU Mid-South wrapped up its weekend at the Crowder Classic on Saturday, falling — a matchup defined by fast starts, a decisive second-quarter swing, and fatigue setting in for a short-handed Lady Greyhounds squad.
Both teams came out firing offensively, combining for 48 first-quarter points as Crowder took a 29–19 lead after ten minutes. But it was the second quarter that ultimately proved to be the turning point. Crowder tightened its defense while continuing its efficient scoring, outpacing ASU Mid-South 22–6 in the period to take a commanding 51–25 halftime lead.
The Lady Greyhounds showed resilience early in the second half, knocking down shots and playing with renewed energy, but the lack of depth eventually caught up to them. With tired legs and limited rotations available, ASU Mid-South couldn't keep pace with Crowder's balanced scoring attack.
Lula-Jae Tranfaglia continued her strong tournament performance, leading ASU Mid-South with 29 points and 11 rebounds. Areinna Manson flirted with a triple-double, finishing with 10 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists. Ka'Mbili Nelson added 6 points and 8 boards, while Serenity Austin provided a valuable lift with 8 points.
Crowder, meanwhile, showcased a potent offensive lineup led by Kylee Cole's 24 points. Barbara Perandini added 20, Lexie Henry scored 16, and Cecilia Scarpatti rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10.
With the loss, ASU Mid-South drops to 2–8 on the season. The Lady Greyhounds return home Monday, November 24, to host Northeast Mississippi at 5:30 p.m. The Tigers claimed the first meeting 69–47 on November 11.
