WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. — Jones College used stifling defense from start to finish to knock off ASU Mid-South 68–41 on Friday night in the opening game of the Lady Greyhound Tipoff Classic.
The Lady Bobcats set the tone early, holding the Lady Greyhounds to just seven points in the first quarter and limiting them to only eight points in the final period. Jones forced 25 turnovers on the night and held ASU Mid-South to just 22.9% shooting from the field.
Despite the offensive struggles, the Lady Greyhounds found some production from the free-throw line and long range, converting five of their 11 made field goals from beyond the arc.
Lula-Jae Tranfaglia continued her strong start to the season, posting another double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Ka'Mbili Nelson added 9 points, while Alana Whiten contributed 8.
Jones College was led by Zharia LeFlore's 16 points, followed closely by Sanyla Smith with 15 and Teeala Wells with 12.
With the loss, ASU Mid-South falls to 2–4 on the season and will look to bounce back on day two of the Lady Greyhound Tipoff Classic.
