Lady Greyhounds Stumble in Second Quarter, Fall to Northeast Mississippi 69–47
BOONEVILLE, MISS. — A cold second quarter proved costly for the ASU Mid-South Lady Greyhounds on Tuesday night, as they fell 69–47 to the Northeast Mississippi Lady Tigers inside The Dog House.
After a competitive opening period, ASU Mid-South mustered just four points in the second quarter, allowing Northeast Mississippi to build a commanding 19-point halftime lead. The Lady Greyhounds were unable to recover despite improved energy in the second half.
ASU Mid-South struggled to find offensive rhythm throughout the night, shooting just 30.2% from the field while committing 24 turnovers. Northeast Mississippi didn't fare much better from the floor at 34.8%, but the Lady Tigers made up the difference from beyond the arc and the free-throw line—knocking down five more three-pointers than the Greyhounds and converting an impressive 94.4% at the stripe.
Northeast Mississippi was led by Nakyiah Walker's 18 points, followed by Maniya Kirksey with 17 and Christina Fulton with 12.
Lula Jae Tranfaglia paced the Lady Greyhounds with 15 points, while T'Nya Ray provided a spark off the bench with 9.
ASU Mid-South returns home this weekend as they host the annual Lady Greyhound Classic. The Greyhounds will take on Jones College at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, followed by a Saturday matchup with Pearl River at 2:00 p.m.
