West Memphis, Ark. – A determined second-half rally wasn't enough for the ASU Mid-South Lady Greyhounds on Thursday night, as they fell 62-48 to Northwest Mississippi Community College in their home opener.
After trailing by double digits at the half, the Lady Greyhounds battled back behind Lula-Jae Tranfaglia, who poured in 22 points to lead all scorers. Alana Whiten added 8 points, and T'Nya Ray chipped in 7, helping ASU Mid-South cut into the deficit before the Lady Rangers pulled away late.
Northwest Mississippi was led by Dekyra Mitchell with 18 points, while Alorian Story added 16 and Ahmari Lockhart finished with 6. The victory moved the Lady Rangers to 3-0 on the season.
The Lady Greyhounds (1-2) will look to regroup on the road next week as they continue their non-conference schedule.
