Lady Greyhounds Lead at Half, Fall to Lady Rangers

Fresh off their first win of the season last Monday night against Shawnee Community College, the Lady Greyhounds looked to even their record at home on Thursday against Northwest Mississippi.

Leading 36-30 at halftime, it looked like they would do just that.

Instead, the visitors shot over 50% in the second half and held MSCC to 35% shooting to outscore the Lady Greyhounds by 27 points to nab an 88-67 road win.

The Lady Greyhounds finished the game 0-8 from three-point range, but did see their free throw shooting trend upward after a promising game against Shawnee. MSCC (1-3 overall) finished the Northwest Mississippi (2-0 overall) game at a solid, but not spectacular, 69% from the stripe.

MSCC also turned the ball over 52 times, while forcing 40 of their own.

Rachell Hughes and Arica Wallace paced MSCC with 14 points apiece, but they arrived there in different ways.

Wallace went 8-10 from the free throw line, along with a 3-6 mark from the field and Hughes shot 5-14 from the field and hit 4-6 from the stripe.

Wallace posted a double-double as she ended up with 13 rebounds to go with her 14 points in 39 minutes of play.

MSCC had trouble with Northwest's Leah Lyle, as she went 6-14 from the field and 4-7 from three-point range. She also hit 7-8 from the free throw line for a total of 23 total points.

Lyle filled the stat sheet in other areas also, however. Lyle had seven rebounds, four assists and four steals in just 27 minutes of action.

For the game, MSCC shot only 34% from the field and allowed 46 points in the paint, compared to scoring just 34 of their own.

On the upside, MSCC's bench had an outstanding game, outscoring Northwest's bench 67-18.
