Bio
Sam Smith comes to the Greyhounds after helping the Arkadelphia Badgers to a 22-7 record and a share of the 4A-7 conference title with a 10-2 record before falling in the 4A South Region Tournament under Head Coach Donald Williams. Transferring from Gurdon (AR) after his junior year, Smith averaged 23 points, 13 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 blocked shot per game while shooting 60% from the field, 33% from the three-point line and 70% from the free throw line in his lone season at Arkadelphia.
He was voted the top player in the conference while earning 4A-7 All-Conference honors, was named to the 4A All-State Team, and was selected to compete in the Arkansas Activities Association/Arkansas High School Coaches Association Basketball All-Star Game that was to be held at the University of Central Arkansas June 26-27 before being cancelled due to COVID-19.

For the first time in five years the Greyhounds are not Region Champions as they fell 82-66 at SAU Tech Saturday at Rocket Arena in the NJCAA Region 2 Championship game.
Using a stingy defense of their home turf, the Greyhounds took a 68-64 victory over UA Cossatot to end the Colts' season and advance to the NJCAA Region 2 Tournament Championship game this Saturday at 2:00pm.
In their final regular-season game of the year, ASU Mid-South defeated the National Park College Nighthawks 90-73 Monday at The Dog House to secure the #2 seed heading into the NJCAA Region 2 Tournament held at home sites.
A 16-5 run helped overcome a 7-point halftime deficit as the Greyhounds held on at the end for an 80-76 victory over the North Arkansas College Pioneers Saturday at The Dog House in West Memphis.
Down 11 at the half, the Greyhounds clawed their way back to take a lead in the second half only to come up short at the end, falling 80-71 at SAU Tech Monday in East Camden, Arkansas.
Shooting a paltry 20% from the three-point line, the Greyhounds succumbed in the second half to drop an 86-79 decision Saturday at UA Cossatot in the historic University of Arkansas Cossatot Bank of Lockesburg Gymnasium in Lockesburg, Arkansas.
The Greyhounds jumped out to an 18-point lead at the half and never looked back, taking a 98-74 victory over the South Arkansas Community College Stars Thursday at The Dog House.
With one of their two losses being at St. Louis Community College on March 1, the Greyhounds had redemption on their mind as they hosted the Archers Monday night at The Dog House. Mission accomplished.
The Greyhounds had the hot hand and shot 57.1% from the field and 42.3% from the three-point line on the way to a convincing 105-83 victory Saturday at National Park College in Hot Springs.
Down 8 points at the half, the Greyhounds held the SAU Tech Rockets to 4 points in the first 8 1/2 minutes of the second half to take the lead, then held the visitors off down the stretch for a 73-71 victory Thursday night at The Dog House.
The Greyhounds scored 93 points against North Arkansas College, but saw Pioneer center Trent Lippoldt have a career night with 35 points and 24 rebounds as ASU Mid-South fell 109-93 Saturday in Harrison.
Overcoming their visitor's hot hand, the Greyhounds pulled away with a big second half to take a 106-79 victory over Central Baptist College JV Thursday at The Dog House.
After the latest NJCAA Rankings came out earlier in the day and had the Greyhounds at #2 in the nation, ASU Mid-South could not escape with a win that night, falling 68-57 at St. Louis Community College Monday in Missouri.
