Spencer Simes, a guard from North Little Rock High School, has signed an NJCAA Letter of Intent with the Greyhounds for the 2020-21 season.
Simes helped lead the North Little Rock Charging Wildcats (22-5) to the 6A State Tournament quarterfinals before falling to eventual Co-State Champion Conway. The Charging Wildcats won the ultra-tough 6A-Central conference with a 13-1 record under Head Coach Johnny Rice.
The 6'3" guard averaged 14.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 57% from the field. He earned All-Conference honors this season as well as being named to both the 6A All-State team and the 6A All-State Tournament team.
Playing varsity for three seasons, Simes has been a part of arguably the state's top basketball program in the last decade and played with some of the nation's top talent. As a sophomore, he was part of a 26-5 squad that won the 7A State Championship, playing with concensus national top 100 player Moses Moody who recently signed with the Arkansas Razorbacks.
His junior year ended with a 22-9 record in the state tournament quarterfinals when he teamed up with current Greyhound Kylon McCullough and three-star guard Collin Moore who recently signed with Georgia State. And this season he played on a team with concensus national top 100 players Kel'El Ware (class of 2022) and Bryson Warren (class of 2023).
Simes is the sixth ASU Mid-South signee this spring, following Torien Stewart from Southwind High School in Memphis, Cullen Brown out of Rivercrest High School (AR), Jacob Hudson out of Cabot (AR), Tae Smith from Blytheville (AR), and Jaaron Harriott from Little Rock (AR).
