A three-year letterman, Marrs helped lead Marion High School to the 6A State Tournament quarterfinals before dropping a 4-point decision to the eventual state runners-up. He averaged 8 points and 5 rebounds on his way to earning All-Conference honors as a senior for coach Irving Clay.
