MSCC has found the road to be to its liking lately.
Their latest victim was Crowley's Ridge, who the Greyhounds galloped over last night in Paragould, winning 104-54, to extend their record to 8-4 ahead of yet another crucial road trip this Thursday against Jackson State Community College.
"We came out and executed from the start tonight," MSCC head coach Chris Parker said after the game. "It was nice to see us share the ball and play for each other, too."
If Parker was pleased with how his team played together, he was downright thrilled with how businesslike his team was against Crowley's Ridge. MSCC had already beaten Crowley's Ridge at home in November by a dominating 124-62 fashion, and Parker realized the challenge that could cause a team.
"That can be a challenge, but we knew if we came out strong, there was a chance that we could take their hope from the beginning, and we just did a good job coming out strong," explained Parker.
The Greyhounds did just that, scoring the game's first 20 points to lead 52-23 at halftime.
Freshman guards Kaylon Tappin and Joe Dye each scored eight points in that opening half, and ended up with 12 in the game.
Marquavious Smith hit for a team-high 15 points, 11 of which came in the opening half, as MSCC built that commanding lead.
Tasmania Jones also checked in with 12 points for the Greyhounds.
Parker said that he's proud of the way his team has performed away from home over the past week, but knows that they have some big games remaining.
"I feel like we are simply progressing as a team and continuing to get better at what we practice," explained Parker. "But, we have a huge test Thursday at Jackson State, so we are not ready to take the title of road warriors just yet."
MSCC played Jackson State at their tip-off classic on Saturday, November 1 and were dealt their first loss of the season, falling 87-70 to the division 1 squad from Jackson, Tennessee.
The women will open action at 6 p.m., followed by the men at approximately 8 p.m.
The Greyhounds will return home on Saturday, December 13, when they host St. Louis Community College at 4:00 p.m.
