Greyhounds Race Past UA Cossatot

The Greyhounds took an early lead they never relinquished, upending UA Cossatot 112-63 Saturday at the Colts' historic gym in Lockesburg, Arkansas.

In a gym out of the movie "Hoosiers" where the benches were at midcourt opposite each other, the Greyhounds applied pressure early to take a 51-27 lead at the half. Then in the second half, the tempo of the game increased as ASU Mid-South outscored their opponent 61-36 to seal the victory.

The Greyhounds (6-3, ranked #19) shot an outstanding 59.5% from the field, 42.9% from the arc and 75% (12-of-16) from the free throw line. The visitors also helped themselves by taking a 50-26 rebound advantage, forced 19 Colt turnovers and held the home team to 38.3% shooting from the field.

Zach Byrd registered his second double-double in the last three games, scoring 20 points and pulling down 10 rebounds to lead the Greyhounds in both categories. Jalen Sasser scored a career-high 18 points while pulling down 6 boards, and Garret Finley and Treay Jamison both came off the bench to scored 13 points each. Brien Kimmons dished out a game-high 9 assists with Caleb Henry having 7 and Shaheed Halk chipping in 6 assists as the Greyhounds registered 30 assists for the game.

The Greyhounds have one game remaining before the Christmas break as they host St. Louis Community College on Saturday, December 8, at The Dog House. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:00pm.
