Hot Defense Does Job in Hot Springs

Holding the home team to 27.9% shooting for the game, ASU Mid-South took a 73-42 victory over Champion Christian Wednesday at Summit Arena in Hot Springs to move to 8-5 on the season.

The Greyhounds raced to a 40-20 halftime lead thanks to a stellar defensive performance despite a subpar shooting night in their first game since December 9. The Greyhounds collected a season-high 67 rebounds to only 32 boards for the home team, and shared the ball well to finish with 17 assists.

Trevor Banks led the Greyhounds with 13 points and 8 rebounds while Chris Smith got his first double-double of the year with 12 points and 14 rebounds and Dee Montgomery finished with ten points and a team-high five assists. Montee Randle pulled down a season-high 12 boards to go with nine points.

ASU Mid-South next plays Saturday at home against St. Louis Community College with a 4:00pm tipoff time after the women's 2:00pm matchup with Crowder College. Admission is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students with ASU Mid-South faculty and students admitted free.
