In the second of six consecutive games away from the friendly confines of The Dog House, the Greyhounds used a solid defensive performance to take a 73-64 victory over Wentworth Military Academy and College in the first round of the Pioneer Classic held in Harrison, Arkansas.
ASU Mid-South took a 37-28 lead at the half as Montee Randle scored 11 of his team-high 12 points in the opening frame. Terrandus Smith finished with 11 points while K.J. Patrick took over the second half, scoring all 10 points in the final stanza.
The Greyhounds forced 22 turnovers and only committed 13, and also took the rebounding war with a 43-39 count while limiting the Dragons to only five offensive rebounds for the game.
Next up is a matchup with the two-time defending District XIII Champions from MCC-Penn Valley in Kansas City tomorrow in the final round of the Pioneer Classic. Tipoff in Harrison is at noon.
