The Greyhounds fell in their second game of the Pioneer Classic to MCC-Penn Valley 78-72 thanks to timely shooting from the Scouts and timely turnovers by the Greyhounds.
The Greyhounds traded the lead throughout the first half but found themselves down 39-35 at the break. They battled to again take the lead in the second half until the Scouts pulled ahead around the 5:00 mark and the Greyhounds just couldn't overcome the deficit.
Trent Steen was the only Greyhound in double figures, finishing with a double-double (23 points, 11 rebounds), as leading scorer Tasmania Jones left the game with an injury early in the first half and did not return. ASU Mid-South outrebounded MCC-Penn Valley 38-30, but the Scouts forced 13 Greyhound turnovers and committed only 8.
The Greyhounds continue their 7-game road trip at Bethel University in McKinzie, Tennessee, Monday before traveling for a two-game swing to St. Louis, Missouri, next weekend.
