Former Greyhound and current Barton College guard Jake Veasley has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Veasley averaged 22 points per game in leading the Bulldogs to a pair of league wins over North Greenville University and Belmont Abbey College. The sophomore guard poured in 27 points in helping the Bulldogs to a narrow 84-80 win over then- 8-2 North Greenville. Veasley added 17 points in BC's 84-63 victory over Belmont Abbey.
The junior transfer from Marion, Ark., has been the leading scorer on the court in each of Barton's last three games, and has averaged 25.3 points per game while shooting better than 62 percent from the field and 76 percent from the line over that span.
The player of the week award is the first for Veasley and the second for the Bulldogs this season. Danny Shand received the honor in week one.
Veasley has helped Barton to a 5-1 record in its last six games.
